Its population reached a peak of 4,166 in 1970 and was reported as 3,782 in 1980, when the town had ninety-eight businesses. The center of the county lies at approximately 3310' north latitude and 9945' west longitude, about fifty miles. By 1967 Haskell had an airport, a bank, a hospital, and eighteen churches.
